100_0285 Shaker Bench
Based on Shop drawings by Ejner Handberg of existing pieces of Shaker furniture. The original was made of pine. This one is made from a salvaged chestnut barn beam. The edges of the beam was re-sawn, but the hand-hewn edge was retained on both sides of the bench. I made this bench 8 years ago, but the tools marks you see on the edge were made by hand at least 150 years ago when they roughed out the beam.
